Mike wrote “Hurt Again” when he was in college, but never shared it until last year when he recorded an acoustic version at home during the lockdown. “I always loved the song, but never took the time to finish it the way I wanted. The lockdown took that excuse away,” Mike shares.
“I was playing around with it in my den when my daughter asked me who sang it originally. I just laughed and told that I’m the only one. She and her twin brother listened again and told me it was great. So, I decided to share it.
I just love the idea of exploring the toll of constant one-night affairs is on someone. When one of you feels more connected than the other, you wake up alone or get ghosted. Eventually, you just want to settle down and fall in love. You don’t want to ‘Hurt Again’.”
So, here’s this guy who can’t help himself. It’s how he learned to love. He wants something more, but all he knows is lust for a stranger that leads to hurt.”
