Limited Edition Black Heavy Weight (180g) Vinyl LP of Mike Kuster’s debut studio album, “Better Late Than Never” represents “Great Traditional Country the way it should be done!” Mike shares his passion for Country Music with song writing and music that is honest, open, and Country to the core," according to Saving Country Music. The album has bee named one of 2022's Essential Albums by SavingCountryMusic.com, one of the 15 "Must Have Albums of 2022" by The Balcony Show, and Country Music France's Top 20 Album of 2022. "To sing country, you have to live country, and that’s what makes the music of Mike Kuster so much more meaningful. It comes with that real life, lived-in and loved aspect that you just don’t get from the antiseptic and formulaic notions of big radio singles. These are songs cut straight from life, yet give up nothing when it comes to quality and instrumentation compared to major label releases. It’s the personal and true-to-life stories that Mike Kuster puts to song that make Better Late Than Never much more than just a local project from a local singer, even if it’s the local flavor of the songs that make them so resonant, sincere, and so distinctly country like country music is supposed to be. That is why local country artist Mike Kuster deserves national and international attention." - SavingCountryMusic.com

about

When the COVID-19 pandemic shut down most of the world a year ago, Mike Kuster’s wife, Emily, was assigned to the COVID Unit at their local hospital as one of its nurses. The horrors that she witnessed and the stress it caused her took a toll that Mike and their children witnessed from six feet a way and through a mask.
After a few weeks, Mike wrote “The COVID Floor” while sitting in his den knowing that Emily was again facing this nightmare of unknowns. He recalls, “everything was unknown then. No one really knew how it spread. So, the nurses were sealed in with the patients without the regular support services of the hospital.” Every day was a new revelation of how bad things were and how unprepared the entire system was for this.
After playing the for his daughter, she insisted that he share it. He played it for a friend who also insisted that he share it. “So, I grabbed my guitar and recorded an acoustic version sitting in my den and shared the video social media,” Mike shares. The response he got was overwhelming. He was getting messages and phone calls from people he had not talked to in years. “I felt it must be an okay song when my sister, who is also a nurse, called to tell me that the song had her in tears,” he joked.

lyrics

She’s living in a nightmare
Like all of us she’s scared
But these scenes aren’t in her dreams

She can’t kiss her children
She can’t touch her husband like
She always would before.

She’s off to the hospital
Another shift on the COVID floor
Exposed to the invisibile enemy
That keeps her locked behind her door.
OOOOH THE COVID FLOOR
OOOOH THE COVID FLOOR

She can’t risk exposing them
her beautiful children and her
husband who holds down the fort

She loves them all from far away
a distance of six feet
and cries when she shuts the door.

She’s off to the hospital
Another shift on the COVID floor
Caring for a stranger all alone
who may die seeing only her eyes.
OOOOH THE COVID FLOOR
OOOOH THE COVID FLOOR

Then back at home she makes
her way to the laundry
to clean any germs from her clothes

She runs to the bathroom
to take a long shower
tries to scrub off disease.

She’s off to the hospital
Another shift on the COVID floor
She’ll work all night without proper PPE
Risking it all just to do her job.
OOOOH THE COVID FLOOR
OOOOH THE COVID FLOOR

She’s living in a nightmare
Real reasons to be scared
Protecting her family
